The 2nd Annual Explore Economics East Conference
Being Relevant and Staying Relevant
MONTAGUE, PE – On November 4th, the Eastern PEI Chamber of Commerce will be hosting the 2nd annual Explore Economics East Conference sponsored by Credit Unions of Prince Edward Island, Aspin Kemp and NorCan Marine Inc at 12:30 pm at the King’s Playhouse in Georgetown, PEI.
Tickets are on sale and going fast. The event will begin at 12:30 pm, with a jam-packed line up featuring Nicole Verkindt as the keynote speaker.
Nicole is the founder and CEO of OMX, “Dragon” on CBC’s Next Gen Den and panelist for CBC News and the Exchange. Nicole believes the root of success is about attitude – being optimistic and open to new ideas, and about collaboration. She knows that PEI is made of tight-knit communities; the ability to help each other, share information and leads and support each other should be used as a competitive business advantage.
Nicole Verkindt began her work life with her family’s aerospace business, but soon founded her own company Offset Market Exchange in 2011. With OMX, she invented a software solution to match aerospace companies with Canadian technology partners and continues to grow the company internationally.
The conference will also feature two panels celebrating Eastern PEI businesses. The first panel “Finding a Niche in the Market and a Market in the Niche” will feature Frances and Tommy Sands of Eastern Kings Rustic Timber, Starla and Ryan Wilson of Shiny Paint Company, Sherri Spatuk and Mark Mahar of M4G Alternative Housing, and Kim Doherty-Smith of Fleece and Harmony.
The second panel “Being Relevant and Staying Relevant” will highlight Rose Viaene of Chuckwagon, Jeff Beck of Beck’s Home Furniture, Karen Creighan of Main Street Pharmasave, and Brodie Rice of AM Auto Parts sharing their expertise on how they keep reinventing their business to stay relevant.
ABOUT EPEICC – The Eastern Prince Edward Island Chamber of Commerce is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting its members’ businesses and economic environment of the community. They are committed to the growth and success of Eastern PEI businesses.
